As we have just started our rehearsals for the year, we are looking forward to our combined middle school and high school choir showcase on October 22nd with 6:30pm and 8pm performances. November brings the excitement of the Theatre Club musical ‘Bye, Bye, Birdie’ which is sure to entertain. One of the most anticipated events of the year is the choir’s trip to Chicago. Students are excited and working hard to make this trip happen as they have already had their first fundraiser to fund their trip.
Behind the scenes much has been going on as well. In this time of tight budgets I would like to thank Walt and Alyce Sangster and their church, the LDS church of Bloomfield Hills, for the donation of a baby grand piano for the choir room! The Lincoln Choral Booster have also been diligently working to provide more opportunities for our music students as they have replaced our concert choir uniforms and have provided funds along with the district to purchase 3 new practice keyboards for our piano lab. They will get a lot of use as we have tripled the number of piano students in just one year.
Lastly, I know that many people in our community love the LHS Choirs and support our program through fundraisers and concert attendance. We do however have one other immediate need. Our booster program is looking for interested parents/community members to support the choirs though service as a music booster. The boosters meet once a month for an hour and a half and each take a job home that requires an hour or so during the month to support the students. If you have the time and talents to donate please consider contacting our boosters. Our meetings are the first Tuesday of every month at 6pm in the high school choir room.
Lincoln Choral Boosters:
The Lincoln High School Choir Boosters work to support the choral program at LHS. We help the choral director behind the scenes with concerts, district choir festival, and fundraising. There is always room for more people to get involved. If you are a parent of a choir student or just a community member interested in the choral program, we'd love to meet you.
